The incomprehensible disgrace.

90 million tons of food are thrown away.

The degree to which food is destroyed increases every day. And that is despite the fact that extensive campaigns are being started in more and more nations with one singular goal: to make food available.

It is, of course, each consumer’s choice just how much food they throw away while people suffer from hunger in other parts of the word, however, the vast majority of this waste occurs in industry and retail.

795 million people in this world do not have enough food.

More than 7 billion people live on planet earth. Globally, one in nine people will have to go to bed hungry every night.

Hunger is the biggest health hazard worldwide. More people die of hunger each year than of AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

The vast majority of those suffering hunger (98 percent) live in developing nations. Of those, approximately 511 million live in Asia and the pacific region, and 232 million in Africa. However, at 20 percent, the proportion of the population suffering from hunger is the largest in Africa.

Every year, malnutrition contributes to the death of 3.1 million children below the age of five – more than 45 percent of all child deaths worldwide.

Current numbers from europe:

90 million tons of food destroyed.

Facts and figures

What you need to know.

162 million small children in developing nations suffer from chronic malnutrition. Worldwide, every seventh child below the age of five is underweight.

Worldwide, every fourth child is chronically malnourished and affected by stunting, a condition of low body height and slow general development compared to healthy children of the same age. The consequences last for a lifetime.

In developing nations, 66 million preschool children go to school hungry; in Africa alone there are 23 million.

It only costs 20 cents to provide a child with a school lunch containing important vitamins and nutrients, which are vital to growing up healthy.

If women in developing countries were to receive the same means for land cultivation as men, the number of people suffering from hunger worldwide could be reduced by 100 to 150 million people.

Malnourished mothers often give birth to underweight infants, whom are 20 percent more likely to die before they ever reach their fifth birthday. Worldwide, up to 17 million underweight children are born each and every year.

The first 1,000 days in the life of a child, from conception to the second birthday, are the crucial phase when it comes to the prevention of chronic malnourishment. Proper nutrition during this period can prevent mental and physical defects associated with malnutrition.

Due to climate change, an additional 24 million children will live in poverty by 2050. Almost half of them in sub-Saharan Africa.

Hunger is the biggest, yet solvable, problem of our world.

We solve the biggest problem of our world.

Intelligent Food develops solutions to fight hunger.

In Europe, grocery retailers destroy approximately 40 percent of their goods. And worse yet: due to the overproduction of foodstuffs, an unbelievable amount of food is discarded before ever reaching the consumer. In numbers: in Europe alone, more than 90 million tons of food are discarded annually. This is an incredible waste of raw materials and valuable products.

Intelligent Food develops solutions and concepts designed to draw economic benefit from this unfathomable waste. The fact is that almost every foodstuff can be utilized, once recycling- and production facilities have been established within the reasonable vicinity of the producers.

To accommodate this fact, Intelligent Food develops mobile systems and facilities that can be used locally. Together with specialists from the food industry, solutions for the sensible utilization of foodstuffs are being developed. Eventually, these solutions make their way into impoverished regions, conflict zones and to those that are suffering.

There is nothing wrong with using milk production surpluses to create milk powder products, to then use them in impoverished regions worldwide. It’s not that there is a lack of solutions, but rather that ideas are in short supply. Ideas in which the human being is the primary factor.

Intelligent Food has some strong partners. The mere desire to save the world alone doesn’t really make a difference - if no one starts doing it, the world will be doomed: in cooperation with the United Nations, Intelligent Food is developing solutions for the optimization of foodstuff utilization.

At the UN-level alone, there are currently more than three dozen active programs for people in need of assistance because they are suffering from hunger.

Creating values. Offering aid. Reaping benefits.

Our cooperation with the United Nations.

At this time, roughly 795 million people worldwide suffer from hunger. This means that every ninth person does not have enough food to lead a healthy and active life. Every year, more people die of the consequences of hunger and malnutrition than of HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Intelligent Food solutions support the UN World Food Programme.

Natural catastrophes, armed conflicts, poverty, underdeveloped agricultural infrastructures and the ruthless exploitation of the environment are the main causes of hunger. When these factors coalesce, and no (or insufficient) aid is provided, the threat of famine arises.

With the concept of utilizing and consequently processing the surplus production of foodstuffs, Intelligent Food has developed solutions that will help to alleviate hardships with commitment and unfailing dedication.

Help is a wonderful value creation chain.

The utilization of production surplus foodstuffs is highly profitable. With ongoing cooperations, we are not only ensuring that production processes are optimized from the delivery to the end product, but also that a highest degree of quality is assured. To do so, we primarily utilize qualitative and qualified food inspections, thus laying the foundation of being a respected supplier.

The difference: we do not have to woo indulged customers on a daily basis. We must ensure that our products help people in dire need. Fact: all aid campaigns are subject to the value creation chain and receive corresponding compensation.

Intelligent Food is independent. Intelligent Food does not work with large food conglomerates.

We change the way we think - and the world.

Today, alternative solutions leading to an improvement of the economic situation of producers that will eventually reach those in need of food are important. Just as important as the discourse over environmental impacts and agricultural changes caused by climate change.

The strict implementation of these solutions beyond individual aid programs fosters a rethinking of the production of food, and finds ways to sensibly utilize foodstuffs.

Here, Intelligent Food is breaking new ground - because we think differently, make decisions differently and act differently. The building of regional solutions where the producers are and the utilization of existing infrastructures make Intelligent Food the worldwide market leader in the utilization of the surplus production of foodstuffs.
